Brazil has been doing well in this first week of the Olympic Games. The Brazilian Olympic Committee, the Sports Confederations and the Athletes Commission provided all the conditions for Team Brasil to play its best role.
Anyway, at the end of the Olympic Games, Brazil should have one more gold medal included in the medals table: the preventive detention of Carlos Nuzman (later released by Habeas Corpus, but prevented from leaving Brazil) and his removal the Olympic Movement was a very positive fact for our sport.
If Nuzman had not been excluded from the sport, we would still be living a dictatorship in the Brazilian Olympic Committee, there would not have been the modernizing statutory changes and the Athletes Commission would not have the strength and votes it has today.
With Nuzman, the Athletes Commission had the right to a single vote in the general assembly of the Brazilian Olympic Committee. Today, with President Paulo Wanderley, there are nineteen votes from athletes.
Nuzman represented a delay. We will never hear from him again as a sports manager. And that’s an excellent thing.
